Personality: Sera is a huge contradiction: nothing about her from an outsider's perspective makes much sense. But what matters is that it makes sense to her.
There is a specific order of nature to things for Sera. Magic isn't normal, demons are rubbish, the Fade is wrong, big people are always hated by someone, little people are always oppressed by the big people, and “Elfy elves” are annoying and full of themselves. This is how Sera sees the world and she doesn't appreciate it being shaken out of place. In fact, she rejects and denies almost every aspect of what she could be and replaces it with something in her comfort zone of “normal”. Just for instance, she's an elf yet she is the only character to wear armor not for her race. Sera's able to wear “human trained armor” and unable to wear “elf trained armor”. This can be seen as a complete rejection of who she is. Any time Sera is pulled from that small comfort zone, or is forced to deal with something out of that box she responds with negativity. An instance being her reaction if taken into the Fade, or if taken into the abandoned chateau in the Emerald Graves. It is clear that she is uncomfortable immediately from her long-winded string of curses and fearful panic.
Half of the time, no one understands Sera, and yet she demands to be able to understand everyone else. This includes her expecting everyone to use King's tongue and simple words that even a child could understand. Her general vocabulary and speech is simple and crude, often laced with profanities. Sera doesn't know the meaning of a mouth filter. She speaks her mind, plainly, loudly, and honestly. 'Uncensored' is probably the best way to describe her, from listing a stream of curses, drawing butts on important notes and records, or just literally mooning people she dislikes. She knows what manners are, but she just prefers to wipe her arse with them. In her opinion, those who desire manners are either too serious or undeserving of the respect they demand. More often than not, these nobles have never dealt with someone like Sera, someone plain-spoken, unafraid, and far from the demure servants they're used to. This is a victory in Sera's opinion.
Those victories matter, too. Sera is extremely competitive; even with things like smarts, how big her network of little people is, or just her fighting methods, she always wants to be on top. She doesn't like being challenged and will always find a way to outdo the person she thinks she's rivaling. They may not even be arguing or challenging her at all, but if she thinks they are then she must outdo them. This comes out in her fighting especially, as she's often impatient and even steals kills from her allies. Sometimes it's just to see if she can make the shot, while other times it's because she finds them attacking too slowly.
Sera prefers things to be fun and is constantly picking on people or pulling pranks. Unfortunately, this can often be extremely offensive to others and their beliefs or heritage. For example, Sera often tries to make fun of dwarves while Varric is present, and elves while Solas is present. She doesn't necessarily have anything against dwarves, she just wants to see how Varric will react. When Varric responds with acknowledgement of the faults of his people, Sera lets it go with hardly a word. The opposite, however, can be said of her words against elves to Solas: the more Solas tries to defend his people, the more she pushes, until he finally surrenders the argument or gets fed up with speaking to her.
Anything that requires too much thinking or seriousness bothers her. Most of her pranks are not because she wants to be mean, but because she wants to make a point. Around the Inquisition members it's to make them just seem more human and normal, and not some odd people on a high pedestal. She specifically targets Cullen's perfectionist and near OCD behavior (making his desk wobble) and Josephine's obsession with making neat and tidy appearances (she puts a bucket of water over her door). They get mad and fuss, but by doing this, they seem less like untouchable figures and more like real people who are affected by simple, mundane things. It shows that they're human; it offers up a chance for humility. But it also makes for a good laugh so it's clearly a win/win.
In general, Sera is very short sighted. She doesn't care about her past (or at least in relation to speaking of it with others), she certainly doesn't give a damn about her heritage, and the future is much of the same. In battle she usually just improvises beyond some fun planning from time to time with other companions. The same thing often can also be said of her work with the friends of Red Jenny: she doesn't think big and she doesn't want a revolution. What she wants is to make a point. She covers what's needed for the immediate issue, whether it's getting back at one noble, taking care of Corypheus, or just killing the mob of baddies in front of her. Despite the Red Jennies being a way to change things or to help the "little people" (poor people, those who are disadvantaged, servants, the downtrodden), Sera is by no means a rebel mastermind. It will never be an organization to overthrow nobility as a whole...at least, not with how she does things. Her attacks on nobles are small things, usually only theft, and on occasion a death when things go really poorly. She's not trying to tilt the overall scale of wealth, as already said. She just wants to be simple and straightforward.
Most of what Sera does is outright spontaneous and the hows don't always make sense. Sometimes, the actions just seem to be impossible. For example, sticking an entire beehive into Cullen's training dummy just for the fun of it. When questioned how she did it or how she wasn't stung, she has no answers and brushes it off with a simple lack of memory of the task. Her network of little people is much of the same. Her companions often can't imagine how her endeavors with the friends of Red Jenny are even close to successful, and again Sera has little to no explanation beyond “it just works”. There's no elaborate scheme, no grand thought-out plan. There's just action, something simple, something that will ruffle some feathers and cause a stir.
There are, however, a few instances of Sera just losing it; sometimes more her temper and less her memory. She's very defensive of innocents and her little people. At one point, a nobleman kills some of her friends simply because they were causing a fuss. When he tries to talk over her, more interested in the Inquisition and making deals than paying for his crimes, she totally loses it on him. She outright murders him (and messily too) before anyone can even stop her. Beyond the berserk rage though, if she is told to stop by someone she respects (like the Inquisitor) she will probably obey and apologize afterward (just not in that particular instance). Her apologies are not always to the person she has wronged, but to her friends (Inquisitor, mostly) who have caught her in the act of doing something wrong or something incredulous, something that has clearly overstepped a boundary. Unfortunately, if you're anyone else...you're probably better off asking Sera to put a jar of bees up your bum, because she has no interest in catering to the proud and the wealthy. If you're not a friend, not a contact, not a "little person", then you won't get anything but spit from her.
Inventory: Arrows (x100)
Bow
Clothes
Jar of Bees (x4)
Abilities: Archery. Despite having absolutely no training, Sera is an amazing shot. She nearly always hits her mark and doesn't need a clear shot to do it. She challenges herself constantly, shooting at long distances, with rapid speed, or just seeing if she can avoid hitting a companion and still hit her target while they're inches apart. Sometimes, she'll take a shot just to see if she can make it, whether it's necessary or otherwise.
Her specialization, Tempest, is a form of alchemy focused on containing and unleashing elements stuffed inside tiny bottles. She's able to coat her armor in the elements receiving both defensive bonuses as well as perks, whether it be the ability to move more quickly through battle or attack more swiftly; these little bottles shouldn't be taken lightly.
Flaws:
More seriously: She steals, occasionally murders (bad things happen sometimes), and is not at all shy of causing havoc on others. Sera doesn't create this mayhem for malicious means, but rather to create a balance in life. Sometimes it is making a desk wobble to make a certain uptight Commander seem more human, other times it is stealing from a noble who has wronged their servants. Regardless of her good intentions, it is a balance Sera sees and requires that not all her pranked victims agree exists nor is necessary.
